SRP is needed for patients who have periodontal disease. This is when there is bone loss around the teeth, and the tarter builds up under the gums where a patient simply cannot clean at home with a standard tooth brush. Periodontal maintenance is the routine cleaning every 3-4 months to clean the teeth thoroughly for patients who have periodontal disease and have already been through their initial SRP/Deep Cleaning. It is very important to maintain the regular maintenance appointments to prevent periodontal disease from getting any worse.
Periodontal maintenance cleans any tartar and plaque buildup on your teeth. This includes the gum pockets around the teeth and underneath your gum line as well. It helps your teeth to look better and will also improve your breath and overall health!
